Painted for Red Hen's 2005 exhibition 'Making Waves' on the theme of the Sussex coast this is one of a series of paintings depicting mackerel - the local catch.

This painting shows a shoal of mackerel at night, with a local Brighton fishing boat on the horizon.  In the distance are the Seven Sisters - the white chalk cliffs of the Seven Sisters Country Park between Seaford and Eastbourne, under a starry sky with full moon.
